More and more owners of detached houses are considering investing in photovoltaics. They are tempted by the savings on their bills, the ecology and their growing energy independence. But before a decision is made, a key question arises: what is the cost of a photovoltaic installation for a single-family home?
In this article, we will discuss in detail what the price of such an investment consists of, what factors influence the price and what to pay attention to when choosing a contractor. We will also compare typical costs depending on the power of the installation and show how to reduce the expense through available forms of support.

One key factor is the power of the planned installation. The higher the power, the higher the total expense, although the price per kilowatt usually decreases with the scale of the system. Cost of photovoltaic installation for a single-family house
In the case of single-family homes, builders most often opt for photovoltaic installations of between 3 and 8 kW. This power range makes it possible to cover the standard electricity requirements of an average household, whether for powering basic appliances or also for electric heating, air conditioning or charging an electric car. The cost of such installations depends on many factors, but a general price range can be indicated. A 3 kW system usually costs between PLN 15 000 and 19 000 gross. A 4 kW system, on the other hand, costs between PLN 17 000 and 22 000. More efficient sets, such as 5 kW or 6 kW, fall within the range of PLN 20-27 thousand and PLN 24-30 thousand respectively. In the case of an 8 kW system, the price can range from PLN 30 to 38 thousand.
It is worth noting that the unit cost – i.e. the price per kW of installed capacity – decreases as the total system size increases. For smaller installations, it can be around 5 500 PLN/kW, while for larger sets it often falls below 4 000 PLN/kW. This phenomenon is due to economies of scale – some of the costs, such as transport, design or installation, remain similar regardless of the system’s power, so larger installations are relatively more cost-effective. For this reason, many people, given the technical and financial opportunity, opt for a slightly larger system that will provide not only for current needs, but also some power reserve for the future.
Subsidies and concessions
Subsidies and rebates play a key role in the decision-making process when investing in photovoltaics. Thanks to them, many owners of single-family houses can afford the installation sooner, and the entire investment pays for itself much more quickly than with full financing from their own resources.
